A cool solution for this heritage-listed property in the heart of Sydney

Project story

QEG was approached by the building manager, Abacus Properties, to provide options to replace the central chilled water plant which had reached end-of-life. We produced an option report comparing VFD screw and Danfoss Turbocor compressors with full ROI analysis, which demonstrated that the Turbocor option offered a similar payback to the screw option but with significantly improved lifetime savings. Abacus subsequently opted for the Turbocor solution and engaged QEG on a design-and-construct basis to deliver the works, supported by weekly progress reports and our standard project delivery methodology.

Equipment installed

  • 2 x 430 kW Dunham-Bush magnetic bearing chillers
  • 2 x high efficiency Wilo chilled water pumps with integrated VSD
  • 2 x high efficiency Wilo condenser water pumps with integrated VSD
  • Control modifications to suit (BMS integration)

From the initial report through to project delivery and completion, Quantum Engineering Group exceeded our expectations at every stage. With respect to performance of the plant, we'll let the stats do the talking.
