Project story

QEG was engaged by Moreton Bay Airconditioning (MBA), acting for the Body Corporate of Dockside Hotel at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane, to design and deliver the replacement of the building's end-of-life central chilled water plant. We verified the chilled and condenser water duties against the existing system, selected like-for-like-or-better Dunham-Bush water-cooled chillers, and specified new high-efficiency Grundfos pumps with VSDs to replace the existing DOL-started Davey and Southern Cross sets. QEG managed the construction including demolition, rigging, electrical, controls and pipework subtrades, with the second chiller commissioned on 16 October 2018 and handover the following week. Non-compliances in the existing cooling tower electrical installation identified during changeover were rectified by the electrical subcontractor under our direction before the system was returned to service.
