Kellogg's Botany — Fresh Air AHU Replacement
Replacement of a fresh-air AHU serving Kellogg's Botany manufacturing site — new 55,000 l/s SS304 Chicago DWDI centrifugal fan, new FM-Global-approved PIR-panel housing, SS304 fire damper and ductwork

Project story
QEG was engaged by Kellogg's to replace an end-of-life fresh-air air handling unit serving the Botany manufacturing facility. We delivered a new SS304 Chicago DWDI centrifugal fan rated 55,000 l/s @ 800 Pa with a 75 kW motor on a new VSD-equipped control panel, housed in a new FM-Global-approved 100 mm class-one PIR panel enclosure with stainless skins inside and out (KS100CS), PIR-panel flooring and a sloped roof. The works included a new SS304 fire damper, SS 2.0 mm stainless ductwork from the AHU to the building, pre-filter and MERV 11 final bag filtration, internal lighting, electrical reticulation, two crane lifts (demolition and new installation), repair/paint of the existing structure and disposal of the redundant unit. Three approved variations covered additional scaffolding, ductwork upgrades (heavier-gauge SS with insulated SM liner) and a custom 2700×1660×200 SS304 fire damper.
