Kellogg Botany Plant — HVA0017, 0018 & 0019 External Ductwork Upgrade

Design and construction of replacement external exhaust ductwork, stainless steel axial fan and attenuator serving Kellogg's Botany cereal plant air-handling units HVA0017, 0018 and 0019.

New external exhaust ducts mounted on the face of the Kellogg Botany cereal plant after replacement of the original HVA0017 and HVA0019 ductwork.

Project story

QEG was engaged by Kellogg's engineering team at the Botany cereal plant to design and replace the corroded external exhaust ductwork serving air-handling units HVA0017, 0018 and 0019, together with a new stainless steel axial fan, attenuator and weatherproof discharge cowl for HVA0018. We delivered the works on a design-and-construct basis: site survey and exhaust air-flow measurement to determine fan specifications, structural design and certification of the external duct support fixed to the concrete plant wall, prefabrication of duct sections, and staged installation by mobile crane while the plant remained operational. The work was completed in late 2023 and signed off after on-site air-flow commissioning.

Equipment installed

  • External exhaust ductwork (stainless steel) serving HVA0017 and HVA0019
  • New SS304 axial exhaust fan for HVA0018
  • New SS304 attenuator associated with HVA0018
  • New stainless steel discharge cowl
  • Engineered external duct support structure fixed to existing concrete wall
