Petuna Cressy Salmon Hatchery — Process Chilled Water System
Design, prefabrication and installation of a 273kW air-cooled chilled water plant with titanium plate heat exchanger and HDPE process water pipework for the Petuna Cressy 3 salmon hatchery.

Project story
QEG was engaged by CBM Sustainable Design, the project manager for Petuna's Cressy 3 hatchery development, to design, manufacture, supply, install and commission a new process chilled water plant for the salmon hatchery in northern Tasmania. To minimise on-site works in a remote location we prefabricated the complete pump skid in our Sydney workshop — primary and secondary Wilo pumps, the 825kW titanium plate heat exchanger, make-up water unit, dosing pot, MSSB, BMS controls and interconnecting pipework — and delivered it to site alongside a 273kW Carrier 30RBP270R air-cooled chiller for plug-and-play final connection. On-site works included process water HDPE pipework runs between the chiller skid and the biofilter, balancing and commissioning by NEBB-certified Flowtech, integration with the site SCADA, and a 12-month defects liability period serviced by a Tasmania-based maintenance partner.
