Kainantu Gold Mine Mill Cooling Water Chiller Package
Design, supply and pre-fabrication of a skid-mounted 200kW air-cooled chiller package for mill cooling water on the K92 Kainantu Stage 3 Expansion (S3E 1.2 Mtpa) process plant.

Project story
QEG was engaged by GR Engineering Services (GRES) to design, supply and pre-fabricate the Mill Cooling Water Chiller Package (CP047) for the K92 Mining Stage 3 Expansion at the Kainantu Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea. The scope comprised a fully skid-mounted plant featuring a modular 200 kW air-cooled chiller (2 chillers totalling 130 kW + 70 kW), two primary chilled water circulating pumps with integrated VSD, a 1,000 L buffer tank, BMS control system with HLI BACnet interface, automatic refill unit, chemical dosing pot, expansion tank, interconnecting pipework and insulation, and a control panel. The skid was fully assembled, factory tested and commissioning-trialled at QEG's Sydney/Brisbane workshops before being containerised and shipped to the remote PNG site for plug-and-play installation. QEG also supplied pre-insulated field pipework (DN63/75/110 PE100 SDR11) and Danfoss balancing valves under approved variations, and commissioned the plant on site in September 2025.
