Kathleen Valley Lithium Paste Plant — Seal Water Chillers Package
Design, supply and pre-fabrication of two air-cooled 622 kW seal water chillers and recirculation pump packages for the Paste Plant belt filter vacuum seal water duty.

Project story
QEG was engaged by GR Engineering Services (GRES) as part of the Liontown Resources Kathleen Valley Lithium Project to design, manufacture, test and supply the Seal Water Chillers Package (CP047) for the Paste Plant belt filter vacuum pumps. The scope comprised two Midea SCAF175HV air-cooled screw chiller modules (622 kW each), two Wilo recirculation pumps with integrated expansion tanks, full chiller and Chiller Water Pump spare-parts holdings, and packaging for road delivery DAP to the Perth metropolitan area for onward freight to site. The chillers and pump packages were prefabricated and factory acceptance tested at QEG's Sydney workshop before being delivered to the remote Goldfields site, where they form the backbone of the seal water cooling loop maintaining vacuum pump seal temperatures across two parallel paste plant belt-filter trains.
Equipment installed
- 2 x 622 kW Midea SCAF175HV air-cooled screw chillers (Paste Plant 1 and Paste Plant 2 seal water)
- 2 x Wilo chiller recirculation pumps (inline)
- 2 x integrated chiller expansion tanks
- Chiller and water-pump spare parts holdings (mechanical seals, impeller, motor, HMI, EXV board, sensors, contactors)
