Petuna Cressy Second Chiller Expansion, Cressy Tasmania
Design, supply and installation of a second 330 kW Midea air-cooled scroll chiller with Wilo twin-head pump set, ABB VSD drives, EasyIO FW-28 BMS extension, and NHP MSSB to expand process cooling capacity at the Petuna Aquaculture Cressy No. 3 Salmon Hatchery.

Project story
QEG was engaged directly by Petuna Aquaculture Pty Ltd to design, supply and install a second Midea RCAE90HA 330 kW air-cooled scroll chiller and associated pump set to expand process cooling capacity at the existing Cressy No. 3 salmon hatchery, which QEG had originally equipped with the first chiller in late 2023. The scope included a Wilo Atmos GIGA-D 65/150-11/2 twin-head chilled water pump driven by an ABB ACH580 VSD, an Armstrong suction diffuser, Siemens differential pressure and temperature sensors, TUF-2000B ultrasonic flow meter, and an NHP MSSB main switchboard for the Chiller 2 plant. BMS controls were extended via an EasyIO FW-28 controller integrated into the existing Airmaster/Niagara Chiller 1 system, providing BACnet/Modbus monitoring and control of the second chiller and pump circuit. The second chiller was crane-lifted onto a concrete pad alongside the first unit, with HDPE supply and return connections made to the existing biofilter circuit, and commissioning completed in May 2025.
