Kellanova Botany Maintenance Workshop Air-Conditioning Upgrade
Design-and-construct replacement of the existing direct-fired gas-heated air system in the Kellanova Botany maintenance workshop with a new chilled / heating water fan coil unit, electric boiler, ductwork and BMS controls

Project story
QEG was engaged by Kellanova to redesign and replace the end-of-life air-conditioning serving the maintenance workshop at the Botany cereal plant. We delivered the engineering, drawings and shop drawings for replacement of the existing gas-fired air-handling system with a new chilled / heating water fan coil unit, an electric heating water boiler, modified chilled and heating water pipework, internally insulated supply ductwork and a fresh-air connection back to the existing riser. Works also included demolition and removal of the redundant equipment, structural steel modifications (SHS strengthening to the existing roof truss and a 150 PFC support for the new 506 kg AHU), power cabling, commissioning, as-built drawings, O&M manual and twelve-month warranty / DLP service. Internal works were carried out on weekends to keep the operating plant running.
Equipment installed
- 1 x new chilled water fan coil unit (506 kg, roof-mounted)
- 1 x new electric heating hot water boiler
- Modifications to chilled water and heating water pipework
- Internally insulated supply air ductwork
- Fresh-air ductwork connection to the existing fresh-air riser
- Structural steel modifications — SHS strengthening of existing roof truss and 150 PFC support for new AHU
- BMS / controls modifications and power cabling
