NXT Bioscience Laboratory, Tumbi Umbi
Design and installation of HEPA-filtered ventilation system with positive pressure differentials for bioscience laboratory production areas

Project story
QEG was engaged by NXT Bioscience to design and install a ventilation system for their laboratory production areas at Tumbi Umbi. The system was engineered to introduce fresh air for occupants while maintaining positive pressure differentials between individual laboratory spaces to prevent cross-contamination. QEG designed and installed 10 supply air fans with pre-filters in the roof space, Vilair RSC supply air diffuser modules incorporating HEPA filters, and a complete supply and return air ductwork system. The system serving the PAM area included a motorised outside air damper with 24V actuator for modulating the fresh air component. All works included commissioning to verify air volumes and pressure differentials were achieved to the required laboratory standards.
Equipment installed
- 10 x supply air fans with pre-filters (CFM Air Systems)
- Vilair RSC supply air diffuser modules with HEPA filters (Vilair-AAF)
- Supply and return air ductwork (Rapid Sheet Metal)
- Motorised outside air damper with 24V actuator for PAM area
- Fan speed controllers for balancing
