Kellanova Canteen Fire-Rated Plant Room, Banksmeadow
Fire rating upgrade of canteen mechanical plant room including fire-rated partition walls, fire doors, fire dampers, passive fire protection, and plantroom ventilation at Kellanova factory.
Project story
QEG was engaged by Kellanova to design and construct a fire rating upgrade for the canteen mechanical plant room at their Banksmeadow factory. The scope included demolition of existing polyurethane coolroom panel walls, supply and installation of 0/120/120 fire-rated panel walls with stainless steel-clad double fire doors, fire dampers in louver and duct penetrations, and passive fire wrapping of pipework penetrations. Additional works included provision of a fire-rated tunnel for an existing canteen fire exit, and design and installation of a stainless steel ventilation fan system providing 15 air changes per hour to the enclosed plant room.
